It has been announced today that London-based firm, Stanton Williams, has won an international competition to design the new King's Cross public square development.
At 7000 square metres, the open space will become one of London's largest and will complete Network Rail's £500m redevelopment of the station site. Addressing the immediate inner city context; the design will also free up the surrounding space for the millions of passengers who use the station each year, as well as allow more light into the interior station space.
In addition, the proposal will also reveal the 150 year old Grade II listed Southern facade.
The completion is scheduled for 2013 and I, for one, am eagerly anticipating the outcome!
